The 9th Regular Session of the Presidency of the Serbian Association of Economists was held on Thursday, December 15th, 2022, at the Nikola Pašić Library in Belgrade. Reports on conferences previously held during the current year, the report on publishing activities, as well as the report on the course of preparations for the upcoming jubilee edition of Kopaonik Business Forum were adopted during the session.
Over the last twelve months, the Serbian Association of Economists participated as organizer, co-organizer or partner in many conferences in the country and in the region, also being an important participant in the activities and programs stemming from cooperation with other related organizations/institutions.
The Serbian Association of Economists has continued with its tradition to organize and host the Kopaonik Business Forum which, from 6th to 9th of March this year, was again an important place of gathering, business connectivity and dialogue between the business, political and academic elite.
The Serbian Association of Economists traditionally co-organized the Niš Economic Forum (Counseling Meeting) held on March 25th as part of the Forum of Advanced Technologies in cooperation with the Economic Association of Niš, as well as the Scientific Meeting in Kragujevac, which was held on April 8th this year in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics of the University in Kragujevac.
Based on a previously signed Memorandum of Professional Cooperation, the Serbian Association of Economists was an important participant and partner at the International Symposium on Corporate Governance, held from 18th to 20th of May in Banja Vrućica. This year, the Serbian Association of Economists is also a corporate partner of the regional conference Strategic Economic Talks that was held from 12th to 14th of May at the Kempinski Adriatic Istria Hotel in Croatia.
In cooperation with UNICEF and the World Bank, the Serbian Association of Economists both hosted and participated at a meeting held on the occasion of presenting the report titled "Building Human Capital for Long Term Prosperity".
The Serbian Association of Economists co-organized the World Conference on Basic Sciences and Sustainable Development, held from 19th to 22nd of September at the premises of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts within the scope of the International Year of Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development.
After a two-year halt because of the pandemic, the ninth edition of the traditional Regional Summit of Governors, Finance Ministers and Tax Administration Directors, organized by the Serbian Association of Economists, was held from September 29th to October 1st at the Splendid Hotel in Bečići.
As part of its publishing activities, the Serbian Association of Economists continues to co-fund the prestigious magazine "Panoeconomicus", traditionally published by the Association of Economists of Vojvodina, and remains as its co-publisher. "Ekonomika preduzeća" magazine, the herald of the Association of Economists of Serbia, has retained its status of a national magazine with international relevance (M24) this year, as well.
As in the previous years, the Serbian Association of Economists continues its successful cooperation with the Association of Economists of Vojvodina, regional societies of economists and collective members.
In line with the Statute and program orientation, the activities of the Serbian Association of Economists in the upcoming period will continue to take the form of scientific and professional activities, publishing activities, cooperation with higher education institutions, regulatory bodies and state authorities, as well as with related organizations in the country and in the region.
The first stage of preparations for the upcoming 30th jubilee edition of the Kopaonik Business Forum is being successfully completed. The next annual meeting will take place from 5th to 8th of March, 2023, at the Congress Hall of the Grand Hotel in Kopaonik. The central topic of the Forum will be "Pursuing Resilient Economy in Uncertain Times: Major Challenges for Serbia and the Western Balkans".
The upcoming Forum will include presentations and discussions on topical issues, such as: macroeconomic policies, digital economy, Industry 4.0, inequality, regional cooperation, infrastructure, investment, the banking industry and insurance industry, energy, healthcare system, human capital, education and many others. Attendance of more than 1,500 participants is expected, including representatives of state and regulatory bodies, high state officials from the Western Balkan region, eminent professors, members of the diplomatic corps (Europe and USA), representatives of the real and financial sector, domestic and foreign investors and representatives of international financial organizations. The Forum's important jubilee will be celebrated through an appropriate program.
The program of the Forum, its structure and list of participants will be published no later than on December 20th on the official website of Kopaonik Business Forum.
After closing the session, the traditional New Year's cocktail party was organized for members, partners and friends of the organization.
