With a formal program and dinner at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Belgrade, the Serbian Association of Economists (SAE) celebrated 70 years of successful operation. Generations of economic theorists and practitioners have made contributions to the development of this organization. Throughout decades since it was founded, SAE members have constantly been and remain committed to the principal mission: to develop and popularize economic science and profession, activities aimed at improving the quality of corporate and public governance, improving the economic system, regulations and economic policies, activities aimed at improving competitiveness and affirming ethical behavior in decision-making in economy.
Celebrations of important anniversaries are always a good cause to commend the contributions of organizations and individuals with awards. On the occasion of its 70th anniversary, the SAE awarded certificates for long-term cooperation and outstanding contributions in achieving program objectives to the following institutions and companies: the Government of the Republic of Serbia, National Bank of Serbia, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, Croatian Economic Association, Association of Accountants and Auditors of Republic of Srpska, Serbian Business Club Privrednik, Belgrade Faculty of Economics, IEDC Bled School of Management, MK Group, Mastercard, Banca Intesa, AIK Bank, Eurobank, Erste Bank, Vojvođanska Banka, Association of Serbian Insurers, Wiener Städtische, DDOR Novi Sad, New Frontier Group, Ernst & Young and the Vienna Economic Forum.
Over the past years, the SAE has convened numerous respectable institutions, organizations, but also individuals, who received certificates for outstanding contributions to the development of the said organization: Professor Stojan Dabić, long-term member of the SAE’s Presidency, Professor Nebojša Savić, former President of the Yugoslav Association of Economists and long-term member of the SAE’s Presidency, Professor Boris Marović, SAE’s President from 1991 to 1998, and Professor Dragan Đuričin, SAE’s President from 1998 to 2011.
Foundation of the Serbian Association of Economists presented awards to the best students of Serbian faculties of economics. The awarded students have successfully graduated from their respective faculties: Dragana Zorić, student of the Faculty of Economics in Kragujevac, Bojana Ćirić, student of the Faculty of Economics in Subotica, Mladen Dejanović, student of the Faculty of Economics in Niš, David Blaževski, student of the Faculty of Economics, Finance and Administration in Belgrade, and Dušan Savić, student of the Faculty of Economics in Belgrade.
In the upcoming year, the SAE is welcoming another anniversary – 25 years of Kopaonik Business Forum, the most important conference event in Serbia. In the decade to come, the SAE’s activities will primarily be focused on expanding its regional influence.
The celebration was attended by the highest officials of the Serbian Government, National Bank of Serbia, Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, members of the diplomatic corps, members of the Presidency, representatives of collective members, long-term partners and friends.
