Dear Sir/Madam,
We take the liberty of suggesting to you collective membership in the Serbian Association of Economists (abbreviated SAE). SAE is a nonparty and nonprofit association of Serbian economists founded in 1947 with the aim of pursuing goals in the field of advancement of economic science and practice in Serbia. Since its foundation, SAE has been headed by the most prominent academics, economic practitioners and highest representatives of state administration and regulatory bodies. Today, SAE has successful cooperation with the Association of Economists of Vojvodina, as well as with associations of economists in Belgrade, Niš, Kraljevo, Kragujevac and Pirot, and gathers most notable enterprises, banks, other financial intermediaries and regulatory bodies.
The operation of SAE is managed by its Presidency. It comprises 45 renowned economists working in the field of economy, business consulting and at universities and regulatory bodies. The main activities of SAE are the following:
- organizing scientific assemblies, counseling meetings, seminars, round tables and thematic gatherings;
- publishing activity within the Ekonomika Preduzeća journal;
- knowledge transfer through education and training;
- cooperation with higher education institutions, regulatory and government bodies;
- cooperation with related organizations in the country and abroad.
The status of a collective member is achieved by signing the membership application form and paying the annual membership fee. SAE assembly, held on 11 May 2023, adopted the Decision on the Amount of Unique Annual Membership Fee, amounting to 150,000.00 RSD, the payment of which covers a two-member package. The package consists of the following: two registration fees or a discount on the price of registration fee for gatherings organized or co-organized by SAE, two copies of the Ekonomika Preduzeća journal, free advertising in the journal and on SAE website, and participation in round tables with representatives of regulatory bodies and state administration.
Thus far, at the gatherings of economists, SAE has strived to discuss the most topical issues from the current economic life. The tradition of organizing counseling meetings has also been continued in Kopaonik (Kopaonik Business Forum – recognized in the public as "Serbian Davos"), Niš (Niš Economic Forum – counseling meeting of economists in Niš) traditionally held in cooperation with the Niš Association of Economists, Kragujevac (Scientific gathering in Kragujevac) held in cooperation with the Faculty of Economics in Kragujevac, and Bečići (Regional Summit of Finance Ministers, Governors and Tax Administration Directors). Furthermore, four Memoranda of Cooperation were signed with: the Vienna Economic Forum with the aim of promoting regional economic connections and incentives to regional investments, as well as joint organization of conferences in the Western Balkan countries; Association of Economists of the Republic of Srpska – SWOT which would intensify joint actions of these two professional associations and activities related to organization of the Jahorina Economic Forum; Association of Accountants and Auditors of Republic of Srpska regarding the organization of the forum traditionally held in Banja Vrućica; and Faculty of Economics in Belgrade with the aim of joint organization of the Belgrade Young Economists Conference (BYEC).
The tradition of the Miločer Economic Forum, continuously held since 1993 and organized by SAE, as well as by the Association of Economists of Montenegro later on, was carried on by the Southeast Europe Management Forum organized in cooperation with IEDC Bled School of Management and Croatian Economic Association. The last forum was held in 2013 in Bled. In partnership with the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, in 2015 SAE organized a regional gathering – Economic Conference in Bečići, while in 2016 it co-organized the Forum of Young Serbian Leaders.
SAE is a full-fledged member of the International Economic Association (IEA) and the only representative of Serbia in this prestigious organization. The aim of the International Economic Association, gathering the most eminent national economic associations, is to affirm the significance of economic science for the development of global society and address current issues in global economy, as well as to incite constructive cooperation among economists worldwide by organizing scientific gatherings and joint research programs and issuing publications of international character.
Ekonomika Preduzeća represents the official journal of SAE in which the most eminent scientists and experts in the field of economic theory and business economics publish their papers addressing the problems of countries in transition (Serbia and SEE countries). This journal includes the following thematic areas: organization and management, accounting and auditing, finance, law and taxes, transition and restructuring, information technology, and marketing. Four issues are published per year. Since 2014 the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia has ranked this journal as the journal of international importance.
Collective membership shall enter into force on the date of signing the membership application form and shall remain in force until revocation thereof in writing and informing SAE of such revocation.
