Boris Marovic was born in Le Havre, France. He graduated, obtained his master’s degree and PhD in the field of insurance. He began acquiring his rich experience in banking, continued in agriculture and then in insurance (over 39 years). He was Director of ZR motor vehicles, Assistant Director General of ZOIL NOVI SAD (1980), Director General of VOJVODINA RE (1985), Deputy Director General of DUNAV RE, Director of the Main Branch of VOJVODINA RE (1991-1995), Assistant Director General of DDOR NOVI SAD and Director of Reinsurance of NOVI SAD RE (1995). He was Chairman of the Management Board of DDOR NOVI SAD from 2004 to 2006.
He currently teaches at the Independent University of Banja Luka, University of Donja Gorica in Podgorica, Faculty of Business Management in Bar, and is visiting professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad.
Prof. Marovic held all formal titles - from assistant professor, through associate professor to full professor at the Faculty of Economics, University of Novi Sad, as well as the title of full professor at the Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad, and professor emeritus at the Open University of Banja Luka.
Prof. Marovic taught undergraduate and graduate courses at the Faculty of Economics, University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Technical Sciences and the Faculty of Business and Service in Novi Sad, Faculty of Economics in Podgorica, Nis, Kragujevac, Belgrade, and BK University in Belgrade, Singidunum University in Belgrade, Faculty of European Studies in Belgrade, and at the Faculty of Economics of the Open University in Banja Luka. By the decision of the Federal Secretariat for Research and Development in 2001 he was appointed an expert on insurance, transportation and freight forwarding.
He was President of the Association of Economists of Vojvodina, President of the Serbian Association of Economists (two terms) and President of the Association of Economists of Serbia and Montenegro, i.e. FRY (two terms). He was a member of the Management and Supervisory Board of the Association of Insurance Companies of SFRY, and later of the Republic of Serbia, member of the Management Board of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, i.e. Vojvodina. Presently, he is member of the presidency of the Serbian Association of Economists, editor-in-chief of the magazine "World of Insurance", honorary member of the SORS Management Board. So far he has published 31 books, out of which 11 authored and 21 co-authored books, and over 150 technical and scientific papers on insurance, reinsurance, transportation and freight forwarding. He participated in the construction of the highway Brotherhood and Unity, as well as in the construction of Skopje following the catastrophic earthquake in 1963. He was also involved in sports as a member of the management of the Football Club Novi Sad and a delegate of the Football Association of SFRY. He currently resides in Novi Sad.
