Education
Ljubisa Adamovic graduated from the School of Journalism and Diplomacy in Belgrade, received his Master's degree in the field of international economics at Ohio University (Athens, Ohio, USA), his PhD degree at the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, in the field of international trade theory.
Present position
Professor of International Economics and the Dean of international postgraduate studies of the European Center for Peace and Development established by the United Nations University for Peace. From 1990 to 2007 he was a professor of International Economics and the Director of the Russia and Eastern European Studies at Florida State University (Tallahassee, FL, USA). Before this, he was for a long time a full professor and the Head of the Department of International Economics at the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade.
Professional biography
He has gained the professional experience in foreign trade, economic journalism, at the Institute for International Politics and Economics (Belgrade), as well as at domestic and international consulting firms in the field of foreign trade and investment.
As a visiting professor, he gave lectures at leading international universities and on every continent except for Australia. Apart from Serbian, he teaches in English, Russian, and French language. He has also taught at Moscow State University Lomonosov, Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Raenseller Institute of Technology (Albany, New York), University of Cambridge, Oxford, Columbia University (New York), Berkeley University, UCLA (University of California at Los Angeles), Council on Foreign Relations (New York), Johns Hopkins University, Romanian Academy of Sciences, Royal Institute for International Affairs (Chatham House) - London, Northwestern University (Evanston Illinois, USA), Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio), Istituto d 'Affari Internazionali - Rome, Foreign Service Institute (US Department of State), Taft University - Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Diplomatische Akademie - Vienna, etc.
Membership in academic and professional organizations and associations
He is a member and an official in a number of national and international professional associations such as the Serbian Scientific Society, the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts, the President of the Economic Council of Yugoslavia, the Economic Academy of the Economists Association of Serbia and Montenegro, ASPEN Institute - Rome, The American Economic Association, The Southern Economic Association, American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies, Mediterranean Social Science Research Council, etc.
In addition to his scientific research and university career, he was engaged in economic diplomacy as the first negotiator in the relations of the SFRY with the European Economic Community (Brussels), a member of the SFRY delegation at UN specialized agencies, a representative of Yugoslavia in the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (Moscow), as well as in setting the goals of economic policy and the reforms of Yugoslav economic system.
